On the 24th February 2023, the European Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, Virginius Sinkevičius, visited the territory of Viseu Dão Lafões, as part of the European LIFE Landscape Fire project and witnessed, in loco, a prescribed burning training session, as part of the Burning Operators Course.
The session took place at the Garça Lake, in the village of Coelheira, which belongs to the municipality of São Pedro do Sul.
The prescribed burning technicians, who are coordinators of the session and trainees of the Burning Operators Course, who belong to the Municipal Firemen of Viseu, the Voluntary Firemen of Santa Cruz da Trapa, of Vouzela, of Santa Comba Dão and members of the Forest Fire Brigades of CIM, participated in the session.
