Field trip to the Galicia region

On the 6th and 7th of June, the CIM Viseu Dão Lafões organised a field trip as part of the European Life Landscape Fire project to the region of Galicia (Spain).

During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to share experiences with technicians from various institutions, including the Galician Emergency Agency (AXEGA), the Emergency Service of the Municipality of A Estrada, the General Directorate of Mountain Defence and the Helitransport Brigade Base – El Campiño.

The delegation included the Intermunicipal Environment and Civil Protection Unit and technicians from the municipalities of the Viseu Dão Lafões region. This mission was very enriching, enabling them to share experiences and knowledge with organisations responsible for preventing and extinguishing forest fires, using various methods and technologies, including prescribed burning and pastoralism, as well as technological tools to support planning, management and decision-making, in line with the skills developed and implemented under the Life Landscape Fire project, a project led by the CIM Viseu Dão Lafões.
