The Intermunicipal Community (CIM) Viseu Dão Lafões, through its Forestry Technical Office, promoted on March 22nr, 2021, the Webinar “Prescribed Burning Beyond Forest Firefighting”.
In this online seminar, topics such as “The technical perspective of the use and need of fire”, “The role of women in the use of fire” and “Integrated fire management” were discussed.
Integrated in the commemoration of the International Day of Forests and within the scope of the LIFE Landscape Fire project, this forum aimed to facilitate the sharing of information and experiences regarding the use of prescribed burning in different regions of the world (USA, Brazil and Ecuador).
This Webinar had the participation of Emanuel Oliveira, consultant in the area of Natural Risks and Forest Fires, as moderator, and several international experts, namely, Luiz Gustavo Gonçalves and Flavia Bertier, from ICMBio (Brazil); Rohdri Wiseman, from The Nature Conservancy – Oregon (USA); and José Luís Duce Aragüés, International Coordinator of the TREX Program (The Nature Conservancy – Ecuador).
