End of training sessions for Prescribed Fire Technicians

The last training session of the Prescribed Fire Technicians Course within the scope of the Life Landscape Fire project was held on the 19th April.

These training sessions started in January 2021 and were attended by 25 trainees (CIM technicians, municipal technicians and UEPS/GNR agents).

The theoretical sessions were carried out online, while the practical sessions took place in areas belonging to the municipalities of Tondela (the localities of Guardão, Caparrosa, and Silvares) and São Pedro do Sul (the localities of São Martinho das Moitas and Covas do Rio).

Prescribed burning consists of the use of fire in the management of forest areas, under conditions, standards and procedures conducive to the satisfaction of specific and quantifiable objectives in prescribed burning plans, which is executed under the responsibility of an accredited technician, with technical training in the use of prescribed burning. This is a factor of prime importance for its operational use.
